As a major nonprofit Oregon service provider, Cascadia delivers mental health and addictions treatment services to some of the state’s most vulnerable, yet resilient, people. We also provide residential, supported housing, and permanent housing to more than 600 individuals.

We operate in diverse communities with a workforce of approximately 800 people in multiple locations, along with mobile outreach workers who travel about in the community.

Our beginnings

Formed through a consolidation of several smaller and struggling nonprofit providers of mental health and addictions treatment services, Cascadia was incorporated early in 2002 with the belief that economies of scale would work to strengthen the system of care. Cascadia’s agencies of origin had been operating in Oregon for over almost 30 years.

Today: rising to the challenge

Financial and management challenges, including economic downturns, fundamental changes in reimbursement methods, and the capital costs of converting to new technologies for billing, scheduling and medical record keeping, have tested Cascadia. Today we are leaner, but still fully committed to the people we serve, our workforce, and our community. Today we are stronger than ever.

Cascadia is unique in providing a full continuum of services to children, families, adults, and older adults. Our programs include:

  • Mobile crisis and crisis respite
  • Urgent care
  • Outpatient gambling treatment, mental health treatment, substance use treatment, and case management
  • Services to sexual minority youth
  • Services to older adults in assisted living and nursing homes
  • Residential substance abuse treatment and mental health treatment
  • Prison-based addiction treatment and links with jails
  • Supported and independent housing
  • Psychiatric Security Review Board support and treatment
  • Medical services

Our values guide our work

  • RECOVERY: Our programs build on clients’ unique personal and environmental strengths, and we see ourselves as partners in achieving self-determined and self-fulfilling lives
  • DETERMINATION: We approach our work with zest and enthusiasm, and we won’t rest until we’ve achieved our vision
  • RESPECT: We treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves, and we work to understand the cultural implications we all live with
  • INNOVATION: We encourage bold and imaginative solutions to individual, family, and community concerns
  • ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH: We intentionally create a workplace culture where people thrive, allowing us to accomplish our mission
  • KNOWLEDGE: We rely on evidence based practices to achieve positive outcomes and to spark innovation
  • ACCOUNTABILITY: We begin with the end in mind and measure our results to inform future efforts, providing accountability to our clients, our community, and our workforce

Our team

The heart of Cascadia is her people – the people we serve, our co-workers, and our community partners. Together we create a unique environment laced with an entrepreneurial spirit, focused on efficiency, committed to diversity and grounded in compassion.

Our senior leadership is a fresh new team. The recent re-design of our clinical management structure allows us to be lean, strong and agile. New clinical and administrative systems bring new efficiencies.

We are consumers, counselors, accountants, case managers, executives, nurses, administrative support workers, doctors, and the full complement of all the people needed to bring results. For many of us this is not just a job… it’s a calling.
