Cascadia’s Consumer Advisory Council works with their peers who utilize Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare services to ensure that voices of consumers are heard by leadership, management and line staff.
The mission of the Council is to advocate for the rights and promote the self-determination of people with psychiatric disabilities as well as others who receive (or have received) mental health services. The Council provides outreach to clinics, group homes, apartments and residential care facilities that are under the care of Cascadia.
- Objective A: Support and serve people with psychiatric disabilities and those who receive mental health services.
- Objective B: Educate and train Cascadia personnel for support and outreach. Make them more informed about client needs – in services, recovery, and personal matters – and to participate in policy development at local, state, and national levels.
- Objective C: Maintain close contact and cooperation with national, state, county, city and organizations sharing common mental health causes and services.
- Objective D: Conduct and sponsor programs for education purposes for the public and for people who are receiving or have received mental health services.
- Objective E: Provide peer-operated and oriented services and technical assistance to other mental health organizations.
- Objective F: Explore and generate funding from governmental, charitable, and private sources.
