The students at Open Meadow High School decided in May that they would strive to raise $2000 for Cascadia’s newest program, Healing Hurt People, which opens this month. Through the PGE Foundation’s Community 101 program they raised a whopping $1895!

Community 101 was tasked with securing four agencies to fund, and interviewed well over 15 wonderfully deserving not for profit agencies. They chose to fund and support Healing Hurt People Portland because of its mission to serve young men of color and work toward the end of preventing youth violence.

The culmination of their fundraising efforts came on June 4 with a ceremony at the United Way of Portland Building. Open Meadow Community 101 received a grant from the NW Health Foundation and technical support from Mercy Corps and Oregon Community Foundation.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the students at Open Meadow High School.
