There are many definitions of counseling but the definition that we like most is – Counseling helps clients explore their worlds and so discover better ways of thinking and living. That exploration is happening with hundreds of Cascadia clients every day in offices, in homes, and in the community. April is Counseling Awareness Month, and we’d like to recognize the work of Cascadia counselors.

Did you know that 448 individuals provide some kind of counseling at Cascadia – Residential Counselors and Treatment Specialists, Crisis Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, and Substance Use Counselors? Their work is fundamental for the whole health of the individuals we serve.

Here is what some of our counselors have to say about their work:

“Getting to witness clients grow and create meaning in their lives.”

“Being a counselor provides me with the knowledge and opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”

“I enjoy supporting clients through a difficult time in their life and help them learn the skills they need to better cope with their symptoms.”

“I think that Cascadia provides an opportunity to work with disadvantaged clients and clinically diverse populations and that allows counselors to grow their skill set more quickly. I have also been fortunate to have very skilled supervisors that helped me grow as a counselor while I was working towards my license.”

“I love my job with the mobile crisis team. We are able to meet people on their worst days in their worst moments and hopefully provide a stepping stone towards a better day.”

Thank you – to all 448 Cascadia Counselors. The difference you make is unmistakable!
